Im Not Your Usual Villain - Chapter 15

Chapter 15: The Phoenix Chooses Her Master

Translation by: Weebsread👹

The girl's crimson eyes swept over the assembled crowd, finally coming to rest on Su He.

"That willow twig... was it you?"

"It was," Su He answered coolly, nodding his head.

Under the watchful gaze of all present, the girl walked forward with quiet grace until she stood before Su He. She bowed deeply.

"My name is Ni Huangyu. Thank you, Senior. If you do not find me unworthy, I am willing to serve by your side for a hundred years, to repay your great kindness!"

The moment her words fell, the faces in the crowd darkened.

They had struggled and schemed for so long, only for Su He to swoop in and claim the prize.

No one was more furious than Lin Feng.

He glared at Ni Huangyu, his voice trembling with rage.

"Are you blind? Can’t you see who gave you those precious treasures, who made it possible for you to reach the Martial King realm the moment you hatched?"

Ni Huangyu snorted coldly, her gaze hard as she stared him down.

"You all gathered here so early, but it was never for my sake—you only wanted the phoenix blood in my veins. Did you really think I didn’t know?"

A heavy silence settled over the assembly as her words cut through the air.

As for Su He, he had no intention of getting entangled in their drama a moment longer.

As a villain, he would never waste time giving the protagonist a chance to turn the tables.

"Let’s go," he said.

Su He took Fang Yixin by the hand, ready to leave with both her and Ni Huangyu.

In the distance, Feng Taicang, Sun Changqing, and the others stood motionless.

Once, they might have stood a chance against Su He—they had two Martial Kings and even a Martial Lord among them.

But now, everything had changed.

Su He had gained another Martial King-level ally at his side. Their odds of victory had dwindled to almost nothing.

Besides, even if they managed to defeat Su He, there was no guarantee they’d actually obtain the phoenix blood.

At this point, risking everything for an uncertain gain would be pure folly.

Anyone who had cultivated to their level was no fool—they’d lived long enough to know that life wasn’t worth throwing away over a few heated words.

"Stop them! Don’t just stand there—stop them!" Lin Feng screamed, seeing Feng Taicang and the others frozen in place.

But no one paid him any heed.

As Su He prepared to depart with his companions, a new figure suddenly appeared in the sky.

Su He’s brow furrowed as he looked up to see a young man with snow-white hair, dressed in Daoist robes, hovering high above and gazing down at them.

"When did the Tai Xuan Holy Land become so bold? You even dare to steal from Dao Tian Sect?"

"Jian Gui…!"

Su He narrowed his eyes, every nerve on edge.

Jian Gui was an elder of the Dao Tian Sect’s Hall of Enforcement, a man who had long since entered the Martial Lord realm by comprehending the Dao through the sword. He was hailed as the greatest sword cultivator the Dao Tian Sect had seen in a thousand years.

Even Su He, when facing him, could not guarantee victory.

After Lin Feng had tricked and sacrificed everyone from the Jade Void Immortal Sect, he escaped and joined the Dao Tian Sect, becoming Jian Gui’s personal disciple.

In the early chapters, Jian Gui served as Lin Feng’s greatest shield—a formidable protector. He was also one of Gu Qingxuan’s many admirers, and had always cared for her with painstaking devotion.

Unfortunately, Lin Feng, as the story’s protagonist, eventually took Gu Qingxuan away and even managed to drag Dao Tian Sect into disaster. When their enemies came knocking, Jian Gui fought desperately to defend the sect, ultimately perishing for Dao Tian Sect’s sake.

Who knew what went through his mind in those final moments?

But if Jian Gui was a shield, that meant he could be pried away.

Su He’s initial worry faded as he observed Jian Gui’s demeanor. Instead, a spark of interest flared within him. If he could sever the bond between this “umbrella” and Lin Feng ahead of schedule, could he perhaps chip away at Lin Feng’s protagonist’s fortune as well?

Below, Lin Feng spotted Jian Gui’s arrival. Like a drowning man grasping at a lifeline, he called out desperately:

“Senior Jian Gui! The Nine-Turn Phoenix Egg has been stolen by him! This treacherous villain tricked three great sects and now wants to keep the Phoenix Egg all to himself!”

“Su He, when did you become so ruthless? For the Tai Xuan Holy Land to have someone like you as its sect master—what a joke!”

Jian Gui, hearing Lin Feng’s words, immediately turned to question Su He. He already knew about the Nine-Turn Phoenix Egg, and seeing Su He try to take it away alone only stoked his anger further.

Su He dared to stand in the way of something the Dao Tian Sect had set its sights on.

"Qingxuan already gave me orders: if anyone dares to seize the Nine-Turn Phoenix Egg, they are to be eliminated! Su He, if you know what’s good for you, leave her here. Otherwise, you won’t leave this place alive today!"

As Jian Gui raised his hand, sixty-four flying swords fanned out in the sky, each one aimed squarely at Su He.

Seeing Jian Gui’s arrogance, Su He let out a cold snort.

"Jian Gui, I never tried to forcibly take anything. In the cultivation world, the rule is simple: whoever fate favors, the treasure belongs to them."

"Besides, this isn’t just some treasure—it’s a phoenix who has taken human form!"

"She chose me of her own will. There was no coercion. If anything, it’s your Dao Tian Sect that’s trying to rob me now!"

Jian Gui frowned at these words.

As an elder of the Dao Tian Sect’s Hall of Enforcement, he was a rigid man, bound by the rules.

His gaze shifted to Lin Feng, doubt flickering in his eyes. But Lin Feng only hung his head in silence.

As for Sun Changqing and the others, they had long since lost any desire to get involved. They certainly weren’t about to speak up for Lin Feng.

Seeing everyone so reluctant to talk, Jian Gui’s expression darkened. He let out a cold snort and demanded,

"Then why did the Nine-Turn Phoenix choose Su He as her master?"

Lin Feng, of course, wouldn’t admit that he’d bungled everything—that the Qiankun Lock was lost, The Lethal Gu destroyed, and his carefully laid plans in ruins.

Instead, he tried to shift the blame, pointing at Su He and saying,

"Senior, it’s all his fault! He jumped out and ruined our entire plan!"

Su He laughed coldly and shot back:

"The Nine-Turn Phoenix will always find her rightful place. If not for your repeated schemes to seize her phoenix blood, would things have come to this?"

"Do you even realize that taking her phoenix blood would cripple her cultivation, dropping her by several major realms?"

As his words fell, Su He turned his gaze on Jian Gui, whose rigid adherence to rules was well-known.

"The Dao Tian Sect claims to be the righteous leader of Eastern Wasteland. Yet when you commit such deeds, do you even have the courage to admit it?"

Jian Gui was momentarily at a loss for words. He withdrew his swords from the air, brow furrowing in thought.

Gu Qingxuan had indeed instructed him to look after Lin Feng, but she’d never explained the true nature of the phoenix blood. Now that he understood the truth—that their plan was nothing more than butchery for greed—hesitation flickered in his eyes.

To Gu Qingxuan, Jian Gui had always been nothing more than a tool. Otherwise, when she finally left Dao Tian Sect with Lin Feng, she wouldn’t have done so without a single word to him.

Now, as Jian Gui’s mind wavered, Su He’s lips curled into a faint, knowing smile. He pressed his advantage, voice calm and resolute:

"Even with three great sects standing in her way, the Nine-Turn Phoenix still chose the Tai Xuan Holy Land. Is there really any need to argue about who’s right and who’s wrong?"

"Step aside. You can investigate all you want after you return, but for now—I’m taking them with me."
