Chapter 73: Reunion with Wu Feiyu
Translation by: Weebsread👹
Jiang Qian gave chase, pursuing the so-called "Black Bear Demon" into a desolate clearing—far from prying eyes, whether man or beast.
Finally, the "Black Bear Demon" halted. The creature shed its disguise, revealing its true form: a man with flame-red hair, crimson robes billowing around him, and eyes sharp with malice as he fixed his gaze on Jiang Qian.
At their feet, Jiang Zixuanand Hu Murui lay unconscious, oblivious to everything around them.
Wu Feiyu.
So, this bastard really did get his hands on the Demon Emperor’s inheritance.
A twisted smile played on Wu Feiyu’s lips. “I know who you are—Jiang Qian, the illustrious Chief Disciple of the Azure Mountain Sect. The villain who dares keep my beloved wife imprisoned at his side!”
As he spoke, his gaze softened—obsessive and dreamlike—when he looked at Jiang Zixuansprawled at his feet.
Jiang Qian felt a headache coming on, the corner of his mouth twitching in exasperation.
…Seriously, since when am I the one locking Jiang Zixuan up?
He forced a polite smile. “Thanks for the introduction, but I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to hand them over.”
With that, Jiang Qian drew his Flood Dragon Bone Sword.
Wu Feiyu laughed—a scornful, guttural sound. In a heartbeat, a violent aura erupted from his body.
Mid-stage Nascent Soul stage!
Wu Feiyu looked down on Jiang Qian as if he were nothing more than an ant. “Your two sixth-rank demonic beasts are still caught up with the beast tide. I’d like to see how you plan to steal my wife back now!”
Jiang Qian’s tone was serene. “Who told you I only have two sixth-rank demonic beasts?”
He had barely finished speaking before—
Two Windblade Flamewing Horses, both sixth-rank demonic beasts, emerged by Jiang Qian’s side. Their eyes glinted coldly as they fixed on Wu Feiyu.
Wu Feiyu’s sneer collapsed into disbelief.
What? Wasn’t it just the Thunderflame Skywing Eagle and the Northwind Ice Wolf?
How does he have two more?
“Attack,” Jiang Qian ordered, raising his Flood Dragon Bone Sword, pointing it at Wu Feiyu.
The two Windblade Flamewing Horses charged, forcing Wu Feiyu to pour everything into stopping them.
Meanwhile, Jiang Qian settled onto a nearby boulder, stretching his back and sighing contentedly. “Not having to get my own hands dirty—now that’s what I call luxury.”
It was over in moments.
Under the onslaught of the two demonic beasts, Wu Feiyu was overpowered and slammed into the ground. Blood leaked from the corner of his mouth, his robe charred with scorched wounds.
Disheveled and battered, he forced himself upright. Rage burned in his gaze as he spat, “Jiang Qian, I won’t forget this. I’ll pay you back twice over for today’s humiliation. And my wife—I’ll get her back too!”
With those venomous words, he turned and fled at top speed.
Jiang Qian recalled his two Windblade Flamewing Horses and let out a resigned sigh. “Wonderful. Now I’ve gone and made another protagonist-level enemy.”
Without another word, he hoisted Hu Murui and Jiang Zixuan onto his shoulders and carried them from the clearing.
Back in Ercheng, Jiang Qian unceremoniously tossed the two women onto the city wall.
Chen Changfeng, fresh from dispatching a Sixth-rank demonic beast—and looking a little worse for wear—arrived nearby. He glanced at Jiang Qian, then at the rescued Jiang Zixuan and Hu Murui. “That was quick. You got them back already?”
“Yeah, but this isn’t the time for small talk,” Jiang Qian replied, his eyes shifting to the approaching disciples of the Evil Blood Sect.
Chen Changfeng flicked the blood from his spear, his expression cold as ice as he watched the enemy draw near. “So, just a bunch of demonic sect dogs who dare to act so arrogantly?”
Without another word, he leapt from the wall.
His spear shot forward, skewering an Evil Blood Sect disciple clean through the chest.
To his shock, the disciple clamped both hands down on the spear’s shaft, a twisted grin splitting his face.
Suddenly, the disciple’s body began to swell grotesquely.
Alarm jolted through Chen Changfeng. He tried to wrench his spear free, but it wouldn’t budge.
This bastard—he’s planning to take me with him!
Boom!
A thunderous explosion erupted. Chen Changfeng barely managed to release his spear in time, yet the blast hurled him violently backward.
The other Evil Blood Sect disciples advanced relentlessly, utterly ignoring everyone else as they focused their attacks solely on Chen Changfeng.
Already exhausted from his earlier battle with the Sixth-rank demonic beast, Chen Changfeng now found himself struggling even to stand.
Am I really going to die here, at the hands of these trash?
But then—
Without warning, the Evil Blood Sect disciples toppled over, each sporting a thin red line across their throats.
Jiang Qian appeared before Chen Changfeng, his Flood Dragon Bone Sword dripping with fresh blood. He offered a faint, almost teasing smile. “General Chen, looks like you owe me one now.”
Chen Changfeng let out a bark of laughter. “Hahaha! Fine, fine, I—Chen Changfeng—owe you a favor today!”
But the remaining Evil Blood Sect disciples showed no hint of fear. They charged forward with wild abandon, their bodies swelling and distorting grotesquely with each step.
“Jiang Qian, watch out!” Chen Changfeng called, spotting the ominous transformation.
But Jiang Qian didn’t budge. He stood his ground, utterly calm.
The disciples rushed closer—five meters away now—
Suddenly, an enormous maw snapped shut, shredding the disciples into a bloody mess before any of their suicide explosions could go off.
The Northwind Ice Wolf’s huge head nudged Jiang Qian affectionately. “Awooo~”
Jiang Qian patted the wolf’s head. “Alright, go clean up the remaining demonic beasts.”
With a proud nod, the Northwind Ice Wolf bounded back into the chaos of battle.
Of the four sixth-rank demonic beasts, only one remained—locked in a desperate struggle with Duan Yuqing. The others had already fallen.
A moment later, Duan Yuqing staggered towards Jiang Qian, his entire body drenched in blood, even his eyes flickering with a crimson gleam.
Jiang Qian crouched down, grinning. “Need a hand? My two sixth-rank demonic beasts are free now, you know.”
“N-no need…” Duan Yuqing coughed up blood, barely able to stand as she stubbornly straightened.
Above, the last Sixth-rank demonic beast swooped low, unleashing a furious assault on the battlefield.
Watching this, Chen Changfeng asked quietly, “You’re not going to help him?”
“Why should I?” Jiang Qian replied, expression indifferent.
“He’s the Holy Son of Azure Mountain Sect, isn’t he?”
“He’s on the Crown Prince’s side—he’s tried to kill me more than once. Frankly, he’s lucky I haven’t taken his head.”
“Damn, so that’s how it is...”
Only now did Chen Changfeng realize Duan Yuqing was aligned with Crown Prince Chen Jianzhi.
The tide slowly turned in the city’s favor, and—against all odds—Duan Yuqing finally managed to slay the last Sixth-rank demonic beast.
He was beyond spent.
Just as he dragged himself over to claim the demon core—
A shadow plunged from above—the Thunderflame Skywing Eagle dove, gulping down the demonic beast’s corpse in one mighty swallow!
Duan Yuqing stared at the empty ground, face livid. “Jiang Qian—!”
Before he could finish, a sharp arrow shot through the air, whistling straight toward Chen Changfeng!
TL Note:
Just a quick note: I thought I was wrong when reading the raw, but it turns out the author messed up, mistaking Jiang Zixuan for Bai Piaoxue.
