Im Not Your Usual Villain - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Repaying a Chicken Leg
Translation by: Weebsread👹
“Master, your disciple Qing’er has failed you. I have pledged myself to Lin Feng, for life and death. For all the years I have served by your side, please, grant me my freedom. Allow me to marry Lin Feng!”
Su He had only just opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was a young girl kneeling before him. Her beautiful face was streaked with tears, her desperate plea wrenching every word from the depths of her heart. She looked so pitiful, so delicate, that it was impossible to feel even a trace of anger toward her.
But the words pouring from her lips made Su He’s blood boil. He nearly spat blood on the spot.
What in the world is going on?
Su He’s expression darkened. He couldn’t fathom why the desperate entreaty of a stranger would stir such fury within him—so intense he almost coughed up blood.
In the next instant, a torrent of unfamiliar memories surged through his mind.
He froze.
Only then did he realize—he had transmigrated!
…
…
He had transmigrated into a xuanhuan novel he’d read in his previous life. Not just as anyone, but as the infamous early and middle arcs villain: the Sect Master of Tai Xuan Holy Land, the martial sanctuary of the Eastern Wasteland.
In the novel’s plot, the original Su He had poured his heart and soul—at any cost—into raising his disciple Xu Qing, treating her as his own daughter. Yet, during a training expedition, Xu Qing was injured and disguised herself as a beggar. The male lead happened to pass by and offered her a chicken leg.
From that moment on, it was as if Xu Qing lost her soul—falling hopelessly in love with the protagonist.
She even turned her back on Su He, the master who had raised her with boundless kindness, and betrayed the Tai Xuan Holy Land.
Not only that, she gifted the treasures Su He had bestowed upon her to the male lead, and again and again, aided him in opposing her own master.
In the end, she even helped the protagonist slay Su He—the great villain of the story.
Through and through, she was a thankless traitor.
And as for the man Xu Qing loved so obsessively—what sort of person was he?
The so-called protagonist was, without a doubt, a classic womanizer. Wherever he went, a new harem would blossom.
Xu Qing betrayed the master who treated her as his own child, all to become a plaything for this scoundrel…
Recalling this part of the story, Su He truly felt the urge to cough up blood.
He couldn’t, for the life of him, understand how his predecessor ended up taking in such a purebred ingrate as a disciple.
And in the end, it had cost him everything.
But now, things were different. He had replaced the original Su He.
All of his predecessor’s debts and grievances—he would inherit them all.
But one thing was certain: after knowing how things ended before, Su He would never allow himself to meet such a tragic fate.
He was determined to change his destiny. Anyone who dared stand in his way—he would show no mercy.
And, in truth, he was not without means.
As the main villain of the novel’s early and middle arcs, his predecessor’s strength was unfathomable. He was already at the Martial Lord stage—a cultivation realm that placed him among the very top experts of the Eastern Wasteland.
Not only that, as the master of a great sect, he commanded countless powerful followers. His influence stretched across the entire continent.
Most importantly, Su He knew the story inside and out. He possessed the foresight of someone who’d read the whole novel.
Thinking of all those fortuitous encounters and hidden treasures scattered throughout the plot, a spark of ambition flickered in Su He’s eyes.
If he could seize those opportunities first, then forget the male lead—even if an immortal descended from the heavens, Su He would dare to fight them head-on.
With that thought, Su He’s gaze turned icy as he looked at the young woman before him—and at the young man standing by her side.
That young man was none other than the protagonist of the novel: Lin Feng.
Handsome, commanding, with a presence that set him apart from the crowd—no wonder Xu Qing, that ungrateful traitor, had been swayed by nothing more than a single chicken leg.
“Honored Sect Master!”
Feeling Su He’s gaze upon him, Lin Feng straightened his back, his expression calm and resolute as he declared, “Qing’er is the love of my life. Though I, Lin Feng, come from humble origins and my strength is lacking—unworthy of her in the eyes of others—I swear that I will devote myself to cultivation and give Qing’er the life she deserves!”
“Insolent! Who do you think you are, to speak so brazenly here?”
All around the sect hall, the elders and disciples glared at Lin Feng, each one shouting their rebuke.
Xu Qing was Su He’s most beloved disciple—his cherished pearl. In Tai Xuan Holy Land, she was treated as nothing less than a princess, treasured by the elders, pampered by countless disciples, held as delicately as a flower lest she be harmed.
Who could have imagined that their precious little cabbage would go out for a single training trip, only to be uprooted by some wild boar from the countryside that no one had ever heard of?
How could anyone accept this?
In an instant, murderous intent filled the air. Many elders and disciples looked at Lin Feng as if they wished to tear him to pieces on the spot.
“Don’t you dare bully my Lin Feng!”
Seeing her beloved beset on all sides, Xu Qing immediately stepped forward, raising her voice in defiance. “Lin Feng and I love each other truly. What right do any of you have to stand in our way?”
“Master, it’s only because you raised me all these years that I’m telling you this in person.”
Tears welled in Xu Qing’s eyes as she turned to Su He, biting her lip. “If you insist on stopping us, then spare your unfilial disciple. From this day forth, I’ll sever all ties with the sect, and with you.”
“Qing’er!” Lin Feng shouted, anger blazing in his eyes. “Our feelings are true, yet your fellow disciples not only refuse to bless us, they heap scorn upon us instead. There’s no need to stay in a place like this. Let’s go!”
With that, he reached for Xu Qing’s hand, ready to turn and leave.
Su He nearly laughed aloud at the absurdity.
What twisted logic was this?
His own disciple wanted to run off with a shameless womanizer, and the sect’s attempts to stop her were somehow painted as the real wrongdoing?
No wonder he was the so-called “chosen protagonist”—Lin Feng could twist the truth with a single phrase.
Su He’s thoughts darkened as he recalled how, in the novel, it was Lin Feng who led a mob to besiege him—the great villain—and ultimately cut him down. Right now, he felt an itch to crush Lin Feng with a single blow and be done with it.
After all, this was only the beginning of the story. Lin Feng was at his weakest now. If Su He didn’t act soon, once Lin Feng began his meteoric rise and gathered a harem of powerful backers, it would be far too late.
But just as Su He was about to make his move—
A wave of unspeakable dread surged up from deep within his heart.
“Damn it, a warning from the Heavenly Dao!”
Su He’s expression turned grim.
As the formidable villain of the novel’s early and middle arcs, Su He’s origins were extraordinary. It was said that his bloodline descended from a supreme being of the Immortal Realm. Because of this, whenever danger approached, his blood would surge violently, granting him a premonition of impending doom.
In the story, the original Su He grew to hate Lin Feng with every fiber of his being after losing his disciple to him. But why hadn’t he crushed Lin Feng right from the start? It was because of these bloodline warnings.
So, the original Su He had resorted to countless schemes, sending subordinates after Lin Feng again and again, never daring to strike personally.
And the result? It became a farce—like the endless rescue cycle in a children’s fable—delivering treasures to Lin Feng, who used each attack as a springboard to grow stronger, until he finally led his harem to besiege and destroy Su He for good.
“That’s it—Lin Feng, as the chosen protagonist, is protected by the Heavenly Dao itself. Before he matures, anyone who tries to kill him will find ‘accidents’ happening. Not only will he survive, but every attempt will become another stepping stone for his rise.”
Su He’s eyes flickered with understanding. He instantly realized that acting now would be useless; he couldn’t deal with Lin Feng, not while he still enjoyed the protection of destiny.
But that didn’t mean Lin Feng was truly invincible.
Nor did it mean Su He was powerless.
“Lin Feng is Heaven’s Chosen One now, so I can’t kill him. But what if he loses that status—what if he’s stripped of destiny’s protection?”
A cold smile crept across Su He’s lips at the thought.
TL Note:
- Xuanhuan: A subgenre of Chinese fantasy fiction that blends traditional cultivation elements with broader, often Western-inspired fantasy settings. Unlike xianxia, which is grounded in Daoist philosophy and Chinese mythology, xuanhuan is more flexible and allows for freer world-building, magic systems, and technology.
- Heavenly Dao: A foundational concept in Chinese philosophy, xianxia, and xuanhuan fiction. The Heavenly Dao refers to the ultimate natural order or cosmic law that governs the world. It is impartial, omnipresent, and deeply tied to fate, karma, and destiny. In many cultivation novels, the Heavenly Dao "protects" chosen protagonists, ensures balance in the world, or punishes transgressors.
- Heaven’s Chosen One / Heaven’s Chosen One: A “destined” protagonist who is favored by fate or the Heavenly Dao. They possess immense plot armor—no matter how grim things seem, they always survive and grow stronger, often gaining allies, treasures, and power at every turn.
- Chicken Leg: It represents an act of unexpected kindness from Lin Feng to Xu Qing, triggering her blind devotion. This trope often mocks how absurdly minimal actions from a protagonist earn over-the-top loyalty from female characters.

Hello everyone! Translator here!
ReplyDeleteAs some of you may know me from the previous template or by visiting my About Me page, I just wanted to give a quick overview of why I picked up this novel.
I read up to chapter 15 before deciding to translate it. Originally, the title was actually "The Villain in the Book: Dig Out the Heroine's Supreme Bone at the Beginning", but I changed it to the one you know now. I thought it was a unique story, after all, the main character isn’t just some young, handsome guy or typical villain. He’s actually a sect master.
That said, I later realized there are quite a few novels with similar plots out there. But oh well, it’s already done.
Anyway, my first impression of the novel is that it’s ruthless, like many others. But what stood out is that the MC isn’t the most powerful character. He’s a mid-level villain sect master, yes, that guy is our main character.
As far as I’ve read, there’s no system helping him out. Instead, there’s something like an “intuition”. For example, if he tries to kill the protagonist, this "intuition" warns him of danger. That’s also the reason he's managed to stay alive up until now(before our MC transmigrated into his body)
So far, up to chapter 15, he’s not a simp. Though... he did, uh, have ahem sex with a kind of bird that had transformed into a human. But overall, I’m still hooked.
That’s it.
As usual, don’t forget to leave a review, vote, or even recommend it on Novel Updates.
