Chapter 78: Jiang Qian Faces Bai Piaoxue and Jiang Zixuan

Translation by: Weebsread👹

Atop the towering walls of Tianze City, a patrol of soldiers suddenly froze mid-step.

“Hey, does anyone else see that?” One guard squinted into the distance, uncertainty lacing his words.

Another peered where he pointed—and sure enough, a solitary figure strode purposefully toward the city gates.

“No way, really? There’s actually—”

His words died in his throat. A pebble, swift as a shooting star, whistled through the air and punched straight through his brow.

For a heartbeat, everyone just stared, frozen. Blood pooled at their feet as the man crumpled, dead before he hit the ground.

The silence shattered.

“Enemy attack! Enemy attack!” someone roared, scrambling to hammer at the alarm bell atop the battlements.

---

A squad of archers took aim, every eye fixed on the lone man in the distance—the one whose face was hidden behind a demonic mask.

Jiang Qian stood beneath the city wall, radiating menace from behind his disguise.

With a practiced motion, the soldiers nocked their arrows and loosed a volley.

Swish, swish, swish—

Arrows whipped through the air like a metallic storm, arcing toward Jiang Qian.

“Roar—!”

A thunderous bestial cry split the dawn.

In a blur of fire and wind, two majestic demonic beasts appeared—a pair of sixth-rank Windblade Flamewing Horses. Their manes burned hot and wild, hooves upheaving sparks as they pawed the ground.

Before anyone could react, every arrow turned to ash, vaporized by the demon steeds’ scorching aura.

“S-Sixth-rank demonic beast…”

“We’re doomed!”

“We can’t handle those monsters! Run, run!”

All discipline collapsed. The soldiers broke ranks, abandoning bows and swords as they fled, panic overtaking valor.

A heartbeat later—

The Windblade Flamewing Horses charged at the walls, their hooves shattering stone and timber. Towers crumbled, the ramparts collapsed—the once-imposing city wall folded as easily as rotted parchment.

Jiang Qian advanced, unrushed, across the debris. The two demon steeds followed at his heels, their every step cracking flagstones.

He’d hardly set foot inside the ruined city gate when a formidable lineup blocked his path: the City Lord and the heads of Tianze’s four great clans, with Hu Murui and two young women close behind.

“Where’s Jiang Qian? Has anyone seen him?” Jiang Chenghai demanded, voice taut with concern as he turned to the girls.

All three shook their heads, worry in their eyes. At the first sign of trouble, they'd rushed to find Jiang Qian—only to discover his room empty, no sign of him anywhere.

A coarse, unfamiliar voice cut through the tension. “Looking for this fellow?” the masked man said, voice rough and mocking.

With a wave of his hand, he tossed their “Jiang Qian” forward: an unconscious figure, exactly like him.

Hu Murui’s breath caught. Bai Piaoxue and the others rushed to the simulacrum, faces drained of color.

When they realized he was only unconscious, relief spilled across their faces, tension easing if only for a moment.

Jiang Qian—still masked—snorted. “He tried to stand in my way. Lucky for him, I wasn’t in the mood to kill today. He should be grateful he's still breathing.”

“You beast! You’ll pay for this!” Bai Piaoxue rose, her frost-hued eyes blazing with fury.

In a heartbeat, she dashed forward. Frost flashed along her drawn blade as she unleashed a deadly, arcing slash at Jiang Qian. A cold wind exploded outward, sheathing all in ice.

Jiang Qian glanced casually at the layer of frost creeping up his robes, then scoffed. “Really? That’s all you’ve got?”

He flicked his wrist, dispersing the ice with a burst of black mist that twisted around him. His aura, thick with demonic intent, radiated outward like a chill gripping the soul.

“Demonic cultivator!” Bai Piaoxue’s expression hardened in recognition.

“Sharp eyes,” Jiang Qian sneered. “But you don’t win any prizes today.”

With effortless strength, he seized her blade barehanded, then swept a kick into her midsection. Bai Piaoxue flew backward, only stopping when Jiang Zixuan caught her.

“He’s strong. Stronger than both of us together,” Jiang Zixuan said grimly, eyes fixed on their masked adversary.

Laughing, Jiang Qian tossed the blade at Bai Piaoxue’s feet. “Pick it up. Try again—give me something worth remembering.”

The City Lord stepped forward, forcing calm into his tone. “Senior... what grudge does Tianze City bear you?”

Jiang Qian’s lips twisted into a cruel smile, demonic energy pulsing menacingly around him. “A grudge? Please. I just felt like killing today. That’s all the reason I need.”

His words and aura pushed the crowd back, the City Lord paling. Every hair stood on end as an icy dread settled over those gathered.

“Jiang Zixuan, let’s do this—together!” Bai Piaoxue hissed.

Jiang Zixuan nodded, and in perfect unison, the two women attacked.

Jiang Qian smiled, eyes gleaming with anticipation. “Perfect. Just what I wanted.”

In the blink of an eye, all three launched skyward, their battle erupting over the battered city.

Jiang Qian dodged and countered every strike with mocking ease, weaving between Bai Piaoxue’s icy slashes and Jiang Zixuan’s burning blows as though toying with children.

Frustration flashed across Jiang Zixuan’s face. “He’s not even trying, Piaoxue! He’s just playing with us!”

Bai Piaoxue bit out a curse, but Jiang Qian only smirked, retreating a step to clasp his hands behind his back.

“Smart. Neither of you are worth my time,” he said coolly. “I’m honestly wondering whether to kill you now—or the one still lying down there.”

His gaze flicked to the unconscious “Jiang Qian” lying below, sending another chill down Bai Piaoxue’s spine.

Enraged, she summoned her Spiritual Essence to the limit. Snowflakes spiraled thick about her, icy light blazing in her pupils. “You bastard—I’ll slice you to ribbons!”

A fiery inferno erupted around Jiang Zixuan, her burning eyes shining like embers. “No holding back!”

The two pressed forward, unleashing their deadliest techniques, pouring everything into this one clash.

They’re going for the kill, huh? Jiang Qian’s smile faded. Time to get serious.

In an instant, demonic runes glowed beneath his skin as he activated the Myriad Demon Qilin Codex. Black energy surged skyward—the power of the Myriad Demon Sacred Body in full bloom.

The night exploded with light as the three collided—brighter than noon, crackling with fierce energy.

BOOM!

A body plummeted from the sky, slamming into the earth below and gouging out a massive crater.

The dust settled. Bai Piaoxue and Jiang Zixuan lay crumpled at the bottom, battered and barely conscious.

Jiang Zixuan coughed, struggling upright, blood trickling from her lips. “What kind of power is this… it’s insane…”

Jiang Qian drifted down toward her, cold-eyed and unscathed. In a heartbeat, he landed before the girls. “Impressive, but it all ends now.”

Let’s see how you like a taste of your own suffering. Old debts and new—today, they’re all paid back!

He raised his leg and swept it in a broad arc. The force thundered through the air.

Jiang Zixuan threw up an arm to block, but it was like a child facing a mountain. With a heavy thud, she flew backward, slamming into the crater wall—out cold.

Jiang Qian produced two vials of Rainbow Antlered Deer blood, pouring them into the mouths of the unconscious Bai Piaoxue and Jiang Zixuan.

Without so much as a backward glance, he vanished, leaving only silence and swirling Black mist behind.

---

Elsewhere in Tianze City, the Windblade Flamewing Horses rampaged through the City Lord’s manor and the Zhou Clan Residence, leaving devastation in their wake.

Meanwhile, Qian Zhongxian slipped out a side gate, glancing nervously over his shoulder at the demonic beasts and chaos engulfing the city.

This must be reported to His Highness the Crown Prince at once!

Just as he believed he had made good his escape—

“Eunuch Qian, what’s the hurry? Where are you off to with such haste?” Jiang Qian materialized from the shadows, leaning against an old camphor tree, eyes gleaming with cold amusement.
